Image 4 Strengthens Commitment to Universal Access

New England Branding and Experience Design Agency
Adds Braille Printing Capability

Manchester, NH, February 15, 2022 – Image 4, an award-winning Experience Design firm headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire, has redoubled its commitment to Universal Access. In addition to enhancing its website’s ADA support, the firm is pleased to announce that it has brought new Braille printing capabilities in-house with the purchase of a Mutoh 661UF printer, one of the first printers of its kind in the country.

A general shortage of Braille printing facilities across the US means clients regularly experience lengthy wait times for their Braille signage. Lengthy timelines mean that certificates of occupancy can be delayed and brand visuals aesthetically compromised as signage is rushed into or out of production.

Image 4 offers not only the physical production but also the mapping and design services that go with making a complete and integrated signage and wayfinding design package.

“Typical Braille production is slow because of the semi-manual assembly of carefully-controlled dots,” said Jeff Baker, President and Creative Director of Image 4. “The Mutoh 661 automates this process, dramatically reducing the overall production cycle for ADA-compliant signage and improving performance, quality, and customization.”

The Mutoh 661UF delivers full-color graphics combined with 3D print capabilities specifically to create ADA-compliant tactile lettering and Braille, and the proprietary software allows Image 4 designers to print any design file to ensure it is fully ADA compliant. This printer also allows Image 4 designers to embed its clients’ Brand elements on any material up to 5” thick, thereby extending the Brand presentation throughout the entire building SIGNAGE program.

As yet another example of Image 4’s strong commitment to Universal Access, the company also recently upgraded its website to include a number of accessible features to facilitate navigation for all visitors to the site www.image4.com

Said Baker, “As an Experiential Design firm, we are at our best when we consider designing from a Universal Access perspective, a design approach which calls for integrating all access disciplines – audio, visual, physical, ambulatory, color/blindness, etc. – so that our designs offer the lowest-friction, highest accessibility experience possible.”
