Why we measure ourselves to LEED standards
As environmental concerns are moving into the mainstream, companies are taking different approaches to becoming more environmentally conscious. As of this writing, there are no industry-wide standards describing "green" for the large-format graphics or display fabricating industries.
In this vacuum of credibility, Image 4 has aspired to and implemented the most robust standard available -LEED.
The U.S. Green Building Council manages the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. This program encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices. LEED standard is the benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
Image 4 is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council. We work to standards broadly defined by the Retail - Commercial Interiors sub-specialty.
The LEED rating system is used by architects, real estate professionals, facility managers, engineers, construction managers, lenders and government agencies, among others. Although this program is a specific measurement system for buildings, Image 4 has taken the philosophy and standards of construction as a guide to our internal sourcing, management and fabricating practices, and we can support on-site LEED requirements in the Commercial Interiors arena. Image 4 believes this independent, third-party accreditation creates tangible value for clients who are executing any form of branded environments. Image 4 is taking the marketing concept of branded environments and offering clients who are so motivated the opportunity to implement a sustainable, carbon-sensitive environment for their organization and their customers. This alignment of practices resonates in many consumers' purchasing decisions today.
Additionally, the company is sponsoring a number of our project managers through the LEED Associate Professional Accreditation process.
Jeff Baker, president of Image 4, is also certified by Green Advantage(tm), the green building environmental certification program. When a significant percentage of a project's building force is Green Advantage Certified prior to the commencement of construction, the project can earn LEED Innovation Credits in addition to LEED facilitation credits.
Green Advantage is an environmental certification for building-related practitioners - primarily contractors, subcontractors and trades people. More than 3000 building-related practitioners nationwide have passed the Green Advantage Certification Exam. Image 4 is now listed in the Green Advantage online directory of green-building resources.
